Outdoor String Lights
Many people like to use outdoor string lights to beautify their yards. Outdoor string lights add a touch of the
imaginary or fairy tale appeal to the landscape design. The lights are very versatile, able to be wrapped around
railings, trees and arbors to give light to those areas, but without the glare of an overhead light. They are a
great accent feature to use to highlight the important parts of the yard and are also a safety feature since it
helps to keep the yard lit at night when prowlers might be lurking about.
Although the lights are useful, they also use a lot of energy and are easy to forget about when daylight hits so
that they tend to run both day and night unless they have a sensor system that automatically turns them on and off.
One option to help reduce the power bill from these lights is to use solar powered string lights.
Going with Solar
Solar outdoor string lights are an even better choice than the regular string lights that have been used
for years. The solar powered string lights do not require any power source other than the sunlight. Because of
this, there are not any unsightly extension cords running around the yard, and the lights can be placed anywhere in
the yard, rather than having to be near to a power source. The solar powered string lights also come in a variety
of different types so that the appropriate one can be chosen to fit the décor of the yard.
Solar powered string lights also come with different features. The lights are very bright and are often LED
bulbs. The best solar powered string lights have a sensor on them so that the user does not have to worry about
turning them on and off. Instead, the lights recognize the sun in the daylight and soak up the power from it,
storing it for use at night.
When the sun goes down, the light sensor recognizes that fact and turns on the solar powered string lights so
that they can light up the area where they are placed. In this way they last longer without having to replace the
bulbs. Strings of these lights can run from about thirty dollars to about eighty dollars, depending on the length
of the string and the amount of lights that are on it. There are also lights that are hand blown glass lights that
are hung on the string and run by solar power. These strings are more expensive but are usually beautifully made to
add an even more distinct effect with the string lights.
